The Christmas tree has become a symbol for the celebration of the birth of Christ. But the tradition is only 200 years old. Christmas trees are sold in various places during Advent in Munich. There isn't really very much to do in Munich at Christmas, it's a family event and most things will be closed. It can even be difficult to find an open restaurant on these days.
